The Student Loans Company provide and participate in seminar events within the Further Education and Skills sector. Information and workshop presentations from our most recent seminar are detailed below.

September 2016 - New Learning Provider Seminar

SLC recently delivered 2 seminars aimed at Learning Providers who were new to the administration requirements of Advanced Learner Loans.

In the first session colleagues from the Information, Advise and Guidance (IAG)Team took delegates through the key elements of the Advanced Learning Loans process; from Application to Assessment, and repayment. Please note: the IAG team have since changed their name to Funding Information Partner Account Manager Team, the new team name is referenced within the seminar presentation.

FE Account Managers then focused on the business to business processes with regards to the administration of the loans through the Learning Provider Portal. Delegates were guided through the Advanced Learner Loans Policy, the Learning Provider Portal, and SLC’s expectations of Learning Provider compliance with regards to the Service Standards referenced in the Funding Rules.

May 2016 - Learning Provider Seminar

This year there was a specific focus on the expansion of the Advanced Learner Loans policy and how it will affect Learning Providers and their learners.

Based on feedback from previous years the seminars were more interactive; which gave delegates a chance to meet in groups to discuss plans and business processes with colleagues from BIS, SFA, SLC and other Learning Providers. Delegates also had the opportunity to attend tailored workshops, depending on whether they were new to Advanced Learner Loans, or had more experience working with the SLC systems.

The programme offered a wide range of subjects, which provided a good insight into SLC’s services to learners as well as insight into services supplied by the Skills Funding Agency and other partner organisations.
